Effective 21 September 2026. Barrah is published by Ghassan Ghaleb.
Barrah scores outdoor conditions for the Gulf. It has no account, no sign-in, no analytics and no advertising. This page says exactly what leaves your phone and what stays on it.
What leaves the phone
Your location, rounded. If you allow location, Barrah reads it only while the app is open and sends it to Open-Meteo, rounded to about a kilometre, as the coordinates of the forecast request. Nothing else identifies you: no account, no device identifier, no advertising identifier. Say no to location and Barrah works from the cities you save instead.
City search. When you search for a city, the text you type is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service to find matching places.
Places nearby. When you open a plan, the place's coordinates and a search word such as "mosque" or "beach" are sent to Apple Maps to list places nearby. This happens only when you open that plan.
Open-Meteo's servers are governed by Open-Meteo's own privacy policy, and Apple Maps by Apple's. Barrah has no server of its own and receives nothing back except the forecast and the places.
What stays on the phone
- Your saved cities, your chosen profile, your settings, and the last forecast for each place.
- The forecast is shared with Barrah's widgets on the same phone, through the app's private storage, and with no one else.
- The name of the place you are standing in comes from Apple's reverse geocoder on the device.
- Notifications, such as dust alerts, are planned on the phone from that forecast. No server knows what you were warned about.
What there is not
No analytics, no crash-reporting service, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party code that phones home. The only connections Barrah makes are to Open-Meteo for forecasts and place search, and to Apple Maps for places nearby.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app deletes everything it kept. There is nothing to delete anywhere else, because nothing about you is stored anywhere else.
Children
Barrah is not directed at children. The Kids profile is for adults planning for the children in their care.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it.
